Evaluation of the Northern Ireland Summer Literacy and Numracy Schemes

Abstract

The evaluation covered the 61 schemes scheduled to be in operation in the summer of 1999. Visits, with interviews, were made to 31 sites and telephone interviews were conducted with the scheme leaders in a further 20 schemes.Overall the schemes have generated a very positive feeling among pupils and teachers alike and no negative views on any aspect of the scheme activities and outcomes were found.
