Moving Forward Steps beyond Division

Title: Moving Forward Steps beyond Division

Authors: CRC

Abstract: It is a hazard of annual reportsthat events do not always fit neattimescales. At the very end of thisreporting year, indeed on the 26thMarch, it was announced that, aftermonths of effort, a new power-sharinggovernment would be formed inNorthern Ireland- on 8th May.Sometimes the sheer historic weight ofevents demands that the strictdiscipline of annual reports be set toone side, if only to acknowledge thatsomething significant has taken place. While it is too early to judge thesuccess or otherwise of the newgovernment, there can be no doubtthat a milestone has been reached, offering the hope that Ireland isembarked on a new era of peacecharacterised by trust rather thansuspicion, justice rather thandiscrimination and peace ratherthan violence.
